What exactly is the driving range in Golf?

Question by Drake: What exactly is the driving range in Golf?
My friend told me he was going to the driving range today, now obviously he uses a driver for it. But in more detail, what is it like? It’s outdoors but is there multiple markers telling you how far you hit the ball? And do you just walk forward and get it? Or shoot a few times then go get the ball?

you buy a bucket of balls and hit them all from the same tee box onto the driving range they are marked with flags for distances, you can try dif. clubs and see how far the range is for them. most places have putting greens too for practice.

It’s a separate section of the golf course where you practice your swing. There’s no green to hit to or cup into which to hit the ball – instead there are signs that give the distance from where you hit your ball. Before I busted both arms, I could drive a ball nearly 250 yards – now I can barely get the damn things 75 yards. I’ve given up golf…

Drake, driving ranges are AREAS WHERE A GOLFER CAN PRACTICE DRIVING WOODS AND IRONS. IT HAS DISTANCE SIGNS THAT TELL YOU HOW FAR YOU HIT THE BALL. EACH COURSE SELLS BUCKETS OF BALLS TO PRACTICE WITH AND A MACHINE SCOOPS UP THE BALLS AFTER HOURS.
As for the ex-golfer who broke his arms, Will Nickles, I say that the object of distance and hitting the golf ball is in the shoulders NOT the arms. The arms just hold the club that hits the ball.
