How did the Solectra Sunrise achieve such a high driving range?

Question by peterx92000: How did the Solectra Sunrise achieve such a high driving range?
I’ve been looking at Electric cars recently and hoping to help break the U.S’s oil monkey.

In this quest i found the Solectra Sunrise on Wiki and noticed that it achieved 375 miles on a single charge.
My question is HOW the heck did it do so well and why are all the current electric vehicles so limited in range?
Even the 100K tesla roadster will only do a little over 200 miles before it needs charging.

Thanks

375 is probably not true. Ask other solectra owners how much they get. One guy with a solectric had put nicad batteries from a ups computer backup system into his, getting about 20 miles range. UPS batteries are not really good traction motive power type batteries (lessons learned for him). Same thing trying to use starting batteries instead of deep cyle batteries (low range).
But you can always add more and more and more to get more range but you lose cargo capacity by adding the extra weight.

Question by Ben: University of Georgia Golf Course (Driving Range)?
Has anyone ever played at the University of Georgia Golf course, specifically the driving range? Does the price online include balls, or is that separate?

Usually the price for the driving range includes the balls. Most of the time the range is free you just rent their balls to hit

Maybe its those cheap range balls and mats? or maybe you spend your time on the range working on something with your swing, and on the course your focus is the course and not the swing.

There are different distance markers at the ranges for hitting different clubs – generally you should take a few clubs ( the ones you use the most) i.e. Driver/ 4 or 5 iron 7,8,9 iron to start as using all clubs will take too long and and minimize the number of balls you can practice with – unless you spend a fortune on hiring golf balls?

driving range vs. golf course?

Question by nick: driving range vs. golf course?
i finished a round a golf the other day and noticed all my hard work at the driving range was for nothing. i had poor contact with my driver resulting in a snap hook or a high hook (im a lefty). My irons were either hit thin or chunked. Wedges were horrendous. Putting was the only thing that was good. At the driving range i hit a large bucket of balls with a PW, 7 iron , 5 iron 3 wood and driver. only a very small handful of those shots were mishits and the rest were all on target. Please help!

How to deal with a rude Driving Range instructor?

Question by Rob: How to deal with a rude Driving Range instructor?
I was driving with my friend one day. My friend told me to try his 3 wood. After a swing I told him that the 3 wood’s shaft shook more than usual on my hand. Suddenly out of nowhere this young driving range pro (in his 20s) commented on my swing “you didn’t hit it solid …”. I was offended by this driving range pro because I DID NOT HIRE HIM OR ASK AN OPINION. Even my friend said to this arrogant pro “No he he hit it solid!”. but they the arrogant pro kept talking and talking…. I just kept replying “oh really!”……. What can I do in this situation?
I asked a female friend of mine who keep getting unwanted tips from driving range pros she did not hire at the time. She said “it’s so annoying that I kept getting these unwanted tip from some driving range pros”.

From my perspective, the pro was only doing his job. He is a professional and just offered his comments. If you don’t want anyone to comment, you might get a bucket of balls and go hit them at the city dump. Golf is a game of advice and suggestions—in my opinion, the pro did no wrong.

golf driving range?

Question by mapleleafydude: golf driving range?
I have recently got crazy about golf and i am still working on the basics. Address, stance, posture and blah blah blah. I have learnt lots of bascis from youtube videos and some free lessons off the net. I suddenly feel an urge to go to the driving range at various times during my work and even midnight. I am feeling restless when i figure out that i wont be able to go to a driving range when i am at work.

Overall i am feeling addicted to it. Last month alone is spent 20$ every single day practicing in the driving range. At the end of the month i started realized that there is something wrong with my budgeting. How can i stop this craving for golf?
Downloading Shot Online right now. Eventhough there is nothing compared to playing it on the field i am gonna try this just to kick off my habbit of going to the course everyday.

I might go to a driving range. What should I expect?

Question by Fly girl: I might go to a driving range. What should I expect?
Someone suggested that I should get out and do some kind of physical activity to shake my mood. In particular, she suggested checking out a driving range. She also said it’s a great way to meet guys. Now, what is this? I know it deals with golf but how does it work? Is it actually fun or will I be bored to tears? Is it good physical activity? What kind of clothes are appropriate? And what type of men are in these places? I’m not really into sports normally and I’m very feminine. Will I look weird going to this type of place alone? Is this even a good idea?

Thanks.

Fly girl You would actually be better off asking this question by going to Sports==>>> Golf and see what they know
I’m a horrible golfer because I get really frustrated by the fact that while I can hit a ball that’s moving I can’t one that’s standing still.
If you just want to get a good work out go to a batting range ,buy 15 minutes of time and start hitting softballs
What you can expect at a driving range is a lot of guys hitting golf balls
There is absolutely nothing natural about hitting a golf ball and doing it properly is very much a learned skill
Usually what happens is that you bring your own clubs [woods, irons or putter ] and then you rent a bucket of golf balls and start working on your stroke .
Usually these places offer some kind of instruction
The reason that your friend suggested it as a way to meet guys,is that as rule golfers are a lot weathier than bowlers are and in some circles a golf course is where a lot of the business of big business actually takes place

hit the shots that you hit the most more, drives and such. Then just hit each club four of five times
